The Minikahda Club dates from 1898 and sits above Bde Maka Ska in Minneapolis. It’s vision “is to provide the membership a superior social and recreational experience based on the values of family, fellowship, integrity, respect, and inclusiveness.”
Newland Architecture was privileged to have worked on many improvements to the various buildings over the course of two decades. The firm closely interacted with several of the club’s committees, along with a variety of interior designers and contractors.

The main clubhouse’s west facade. Whereas the center entry is original, the wings have been substantially expanded and altered over the years.

The club’s newest building is the Golf Shop, designed in collaboration with Martha Yunker. Its Greek Revival style complements the nearby main clubhouse. The interior features a large, flexible retail shop, storage for over a thousand members’s golf bags, practice facilities, and staff offices.
General contractor: Zeman Construction
The new paddle house, designed in collaboration with Martha Yunker. This is a more informal facility, designed for socializing and for comfortable breaks between paddle tennis rounds.

The practice range was redone, including a new storage building with covered hitting mats.
Golf course consultant: Herfort Norby
The tennis shop was redone along with a reconfiguration of the entire tennis court area of the grounds.
